Each year, SAGP honors a scholar whose work has made very substantial contributions to the field.
The Works in Progress series gives scholars, especially early-career and mid-career scholars, a setting for presenting developing work and receiving constructive feedback.
SAGP events are designed around intellectual exchange. Annual conference sessions bring multiple scholars into conversation around shared themes. Distinguished Lectures include commentary and discussion. Works in Progress sessions invite feedback while research is still developing.
Across these formats, the Society expresses one of its central commitments: scholarship flourishes through careful argument, generous criticism, and sustained dialogue.
Many SAGP events are held online or made accessible to scholars across time zones. This reflects the Society’s outward-looking character and its commitment to supporting a global community of scholars in Ancient Greek philosophy.
