Works in Progress

Every polished argument begins as a developing idea.

The SAGP Works in Progress Series provides a setting for scholars to present research in development and receive thoughtful feedback from a community of colleagues.

What is the Works in Progress Series?

The Works in Progress Series reflects one of the Society’s defining commitments: scholarship flourishes through conversation, criticism, and intellectual generosity.

The series is especially valuable for early-career and mid-career scholars, who can present work that is still taking shape and receive constructive feedback from colleagues, including senior specialists in the field.

Works in Progress is not simply an event series. It is one of the ways SAGP makes mentorship and scholarly community visible.

Why it matters

Developing ideas

Scholars can share research before it is fully polished, when feedback can still shape the argument.

Constructive feedback

Discussion focuses on helping the work become stronger through careful, generous, and serious engagement.

Scholarly mentorship

The series creates opportunities for exchange across career stages and across institutions.

Current status

The SAGP Works in Progress Series has been moved to spring. The deadline for submitting abstracts for the next series will be in January 2027. More information will follow as plans take shape.
